By Greg Perkins Snowflake’s boys soccer team has just two regular season matches left on the docket with Tuesday’s game at Camp Verde followed by a home game on Wednesday (today) when Payson comes to town. The Lobos entered the final week of the season ranked third in power points. If they can remain in the top four in the rankings, they will be hosting a first-round state tournament match in the quarter final round, which begins on Nov. 4. The semi-finals are slated for the 6th with the state championship match to be played on Saturday, Nov. 7. Last week the Lobo team added two more wins to their season total. Both matches were close. Snowflake defeated Show Low at home by a final of 1-0 last Monday night. On Wednesday, they were in Round Valley where a 3-0 outcome was in their favor. The Lobos head into the final week with an overall record of 7-3. Snowflake’s Lady Lobos also appear to be headed to the state tournament, although their chances are not guaranteed. They enter this final week of the regular season ranked fourth in power points. In 2A girls soccer, the top two teams will get a first round bye, while seeds three through six will have a play-in match to see who makes the final four. Show Low is just behind Snowflake in the rankings and Blue Ridge is still in striking distance as well. Snowflake’s Ladies are 6-3 overall but lost their only match last week with a 1-3 setback against Show Low, which closed the gap between the two in the rankings. Snowflake is scheduled to host St. Johns on Tuesday, then will close out the regular season at Payson on Wednesday (today). They split their previous two matches with those opponents. The play-in matches are slated for Nov. 3, while the two semi-final matches will be played on Nov. 6. The state championship match is slated for Saturday, Nov. 7.
