The Lady Wildcats split their two games played last week, but they enter the final week of the regular season needing to find some magic in the upcoming 1A central region tournament if they entertain any hopes of reaching the state tournament.
In the 1A conference only 16 teams will qualify for the state tournament bracket. With Joseph City entering this week ranked 27th in the standings their only chance to make the post season would be to finish first or second in the region tournament, which brings with it an automatic birth into the state field. With their overall season mark standing at 7-17 and with them sitting at fifth place in their region, making the post season would be quite an accomplishment.
Playing in Williams last Tuesday, the Lady Cats came up short in a 55-36 decision. Hosting Northland Prep on Thursday, Joseph City picked up the victory 47-24. After playing at Cibecue on Tuesday night, the Lady Wildcats will close out the regular season at Mayer on Friday. In their last meeting with Mayer they dropped a one-point contest, so hopefully this time around they will come home with a win.
