The Lady Wildcats found themselves on top of the 1A power point rankings when they were released on Tuesday last week. Their three games played during the week kept them in that top spot with all three games coming in dominant fashion.

To put in perspective how strong their week was, the Wildcats scored more points in the first quarter against Mayer on Tuesday night (31), than they allowed in all three games total in last week’s three wins (30).

The Lady Cats thoroughly destroyed visiting Mayer on Tuesday night by a final of 83-9. They led 31-2 after the first, and 49-5 at the half. The lead expanded by 20 in the third, then in the fourth they held Mayer without a point in the large win.

Several Wildcat players put up points led by April Neill’s 26-point effort, Amber Neill added 13; Audrey Neill, 11; Raylee Fish 11, McKenzie Jesmer, 8; Gabby Jesmer, 6; Jaydiana Kinlicheenie, 4; Tori Beatty, 2; and Jorja Hutchens helped with 2.

Playing at Williams on Thursday night the Wildcats prevailed 74-11 in another dominating effort. Their final game of the week the following day was another huge win, with the Cats taking it 92-10.

Joseph City hasn’t found much competition at the 1A level yet in their schedule. Their only four losses this year have come against some of the top teams in 3A and Flagstaff who is 4A. They fell twice to Chinle who is ranked No. 1 in 3A, and their other loss was to Valley Christian who was No. 3 in 3A last week.

Looking ahead on their schedule there are really only two teams remaining that could give them a scare if they continue to play like they have been. They will see one of those teams on Tuesday, when they travel to Heber to face No. 4 Mogollon. They handled the Lady Mustangs in their first meeting back on Dec. 10.
