The Lady Wildcats started the season on a down note with a 17-52 road loss at St. Johns on Nov. 20, but they played much better one week later despite suffering a second loss. In their home court match up with Cibecue on Nov. 27, Joseph City trailed by only four points at the end of the first period, then basically played the visiting Wildcats even the rest of the way.
The two teams matched each other with 15 apiece in the second period then Cibecue pulled ahead by eight points with one quarter left. Joseph City managed to trim three off that lead before ending the game with a 44-49 loss.
Taylor Fields led the team in scoring with 13 points and she also pulled down 13 boards. Kaylie Gardner and Jessica Jesmer added seven each. Callie Pugh helped with 6; Neleigha Hutchens, 5; Savannah Kinlicheenie, 2; Shyla Jesmer, 2; and Tenea Kissling helped with 2.
The Wildcats were shut out from the three-point line and made eight of their 16 free throw attempts.
Joseph City, now 0-2 in regular season games, returned to action on Tuesday with a road trip to Mayer. Today (Dec. 5) they will host Northland Prep, then will play at Valley Sanders on Thursday. Saturday will wrap up a busy week with a home game against NFL Yet. Next Tuesday the Wildcats will host Ash Fork/Seligman.
