Hosting Round Valley during Homecoming Week the Lady Wildcats of Joseph City battled tough, but came up short, losing the five-game match.

Playing in front of a large and noisy crowd, the Lady Cats dropped the first game 25-16, but regrouped to win the second 25-18 and the third 25-19. They couldn’t sustain that momentum, though, dropping the fourth game 25-17 and the final game 15-11 to lose the match.

“Round Valley was able to dig more than three-fourths of our attacks. We couldn’t put the ball away. Our defense played well for most of the match. It took us most of the first set to finally buckle down and play. Round Valley is a good attacking and serving team, which kept us scrapping. They came to our place looking to avenge their tournament loss to us a month ago and played like it,” said Coach Darrel Mosier.

The Lady Wildcats ended the match with just 25 kills in over 125 attempts. Kristin Baldwin led the way with 14 of those kills.

With the loss Joseph City falls to 6-4 overall and headed into this week’s action ranked 24th in power points. After playing at Holbrook on Tuesday, the Lady Cats will host Cibecue in a doubleheader contest tonight (Oct. 19) for Senior Night, with the first varsity game beginning at 5 o’clock. On Thursday, Oct. 20, they will travel to Flagstaff to play Northland Prep.
