By Greg Perkins The Lady Wildcats won both games played last week picking up a 46-39 home court win over Mayer on Tuesday. They followed that up with a 44-21 road win at Ash Fork on Thursday. The AIA released the first power rankings for all basketball teams on Thursday and Joseph City found themselves sitting in the 10th overall position with their 4-5 overall record. This year only 16 teams will make the state tournament bracket. The top three teams from each of the four 1A regions will get in automatically. The remaining four at-large seeds will be determined by 1A conference leadership, AIA, and Maxprep rankings. If the Lady Wildcats want to ensure a spot in the 1A bracket they need to finish inside the top three in their region, where they are currently fourth, or garner enough positive attention and rankings to get in as an at-large team. This week the Ladies will have hosted St. Michaels on Tuesday, then welcomed in Ash Fork on Thursday. On Saturday they will see once beaten Williams in another home game. Next Tuesday they will play at Mogollon.
