By Greg Perkins After struggling mightily last season the Lady Wildcats put together an impressive season this year. Head Coach Dan Bushman guided the Lady Wildcats into the second round of the 1A state playoffs before they had their season come to a close. Joseph City won their opening round state game over San Manuel, but playing as the No. 8 seed that win put them into a match up with top seeded Leading Edge Academy on Wednesday last week. The number one seed proved their worth ending the Lady Wildcat season with a 64-37 defeat. Joseph City ended up 8-9 overall on the season, but advancing to the second round of the state tournament was impressive for a team coming off just a 4-14 record the previous year. With eight underclassmen on the roster, the coaches have a lot of returning talent for next season. Leading Edge was upset by fifth seeded Mogollon in the semi-final round meaning the Mustangs and No. 2 Fort Thomas squared off for the 1A state title on Tuesday at Dobson High School.
