Joseph City enters the final week of the regular season coming off two wins last week. One in a convincing fashion and the other went four games.
Playing at 12th-ranked Fort Thomas on Thursday, the Wildcats won in four games. Returning to their homecourt the following day, they won in three straight sets against an overmatched Grand Canyon team: 25-19, 25-3 and 25-8.
Their final two regular-season games this week will both be on the road. Tuesday, they travel to take on 13th-ranked Williams, then Thursday, they will get a taste of state tournament-level play when they travel to take on the number one-ranked team in 1A, Cicero Prep. The Centurions have just one power point loss all season long.
This weekend, the team will play in the 1A central region tournament as a tune-up for the upcoming state tournament. The first round of the state tournament will be next Tuesday.
Joseph City enters the final week ranked fourth in 1A. They will be able to host a first-round state playoff game on Nov. 4. The quarterfinal round and all subsequent rounds of the state playoffs will be played at Desert Mountain High School beginning on the 7th.
Joseph City’s regular-season mark heading into its final two games is 10-4.
