By Greg Perkins Holbrook’s softball team has played just three games thus far this season with two of those coming last week. With weather impacting their schedule early on they only have three games in the books. Playing in Payson on Tuesday night the Lady Birds ran into pitching sensation Raci Miranda who threw a no-hitter against Holbrook. The Division One bound Longhorn faced just three batters over the minimum in the 11-0 shut out win over the Lady Birds. Holbrook used two pitchers in the loss. Natalie Patterson pitched two innings giving up nine runs on six hits, with three walks and three strikeouts. Tiffani Tyler also worked two innings giving up two runs with a walk and two strikeouts. Holbrook faced a much different pitcher on Saturday afternoon when St. Johns visited. Holbrook pounded out 13 hits in a 16-6 five-inning win. Ashley Speers was three for three; Riley Reidhead two for four; Macy Moore two for three, with a double; Angelique Tyler two for three; Madison Moore one for four; Natalie Patterson, one for three; Tiffani Tyler one for three; and Talyssa Larson was one for four. Holbrook stole four bases in the win with Reidhead, Madison Moore, Elizabeth Paschal and Macy Moore each having one. Tyler went the distance in the circle. She worked five innings giving up six runs on nine hits with a walk. After facing Payson in a rescheduled game on Monday, Holbrook will host Joseph City on Friday. On Saturday they welcome in Flagstaff in another game that was rescheduled from earlier. Next Tuesday and Wednesday the Roadrunners will welcome in a talented Snowflake team. Holbrook enters this week’s action 1-2 on the season.
