The Lady Roadrunners split their two regular season matches played last week. They traveled to Winslow on Tuesday and defeated the then ninth ranked Bulldogs in four close games 25-23, 25-17, 25-27 and 25-22.
Hosting top-ranked Snowflake two days later the 15th-ranked Roadrunners were overpowered by the Lobos in three straight games. Snowflake’s size and physical prowess proved to be too much for Holbrook to handle.
Holbrook needs to finish inside the top 16 in the rankings if they want to at least host a play-in game for the 3A state tournament. They have eight remaining regular season games beginning with three this coming week. After hosting Show Low on Monday, and St. Johns on Tuesday, the team will travel to take on the Scouts in Window Rock on Saturday. Next week they will play at Blue Ridge on Tuesday in their only action during fall break. Holbrook heads into this week with a regular season mark of 5-4.
