Holbrook’s Lady Roadrunners entered Friday’s game at Payson ranked eighth in the 3A power points and their 56-34 win over the Longhorns should have them at least in that position when they hosted sixth ranked Winslow yesterday.

Holbrook started quickly with an 18-point first quarter. Desirae Bain hit a pair of three-point shots and Megan Cummings added six to go with Madison Chappell’s four points and several steals. The Roadrunners lost a little offensive momentum in the second but defensively they still played well limiting Payson to just three field goals to lead 25-16 at the half.

“We started well but I was disappointed with our bench at the end of the first period. The third quarter was the difference. The bench players did much better throughout the entire fourth period. We executed well on offense and picked up several steals on defense. Their post is very difficult for us to guard and once Raegan gets the ball inside she is pretty much going to score, but overall I thought we did a good job on her despite her getting 18 points. Megan and Desirae played and shot well. Matehya had strong third period and while Madison didn’t score a lot of points, she finished with 14 steals and had 10 boards for another double stat night,” stated Roadrunner Coach Greg Perkins.
