Holbrook’s volleyball team’s slow start to the season continued on Tuesday night in Ganado where the Hornets defeated the Roadrunners for the second time this season. The team’s first meeting in Holbrook back on Aug. 28 was more competitive with the match going five games before Ganado prevailed.
Tuesday night’s return match wasn’t as close. Ganado won the first game 25-17, then widened that gap winning the second game 25-10. Holbrook tried to turn the tables and avoided the three game shut out by winning game three 25-23. The Hornets then closed out the match winning the fourth game 25-18. With the win Ganado improved its regular season mark to 4-2, while Holbrook saw their regular season record fall to 1-4.
After playing in the Snowflake Invitational Tournament this weekend, Holbrook hosted Show Low on Tuesday. The Lady Cougars are currently 4-0 in regular season matches, but they haven’t played the caliber of teams Holbrook has up to this point in the campaign.
