The Holbrook Lady Roadrunners won their first soccer match of the season, but have since dropped their last 10. Despite those setbacks, the girls continue play hard and show promise for future years.

In their 9-1 loss Oct. 11 at Snowflake they scored their 11th goal of the season, a huge improvement over previous seasons. Sophi Phaturos scored the goal. Rayanna Wauneka did a great job in goal as the back up goalie, according to Assistant Coach Victor Paz.

“I can’t describe any other way how these girls fight until the end. Skylynn Johnson played tremendous in midfield along with other girls. Head Coach Baloo and I will always be proud of these girls. They have become a family,” added the coach.

Holbrook will wrap up the season with matches at Round Valley on Tuesday, Oct. 18, and at Camp Verde on Thursday, Oct. 20. Like the Holbrook boys’ team, they do not have a senior on the roster, so next year looks promising for both groups if the players are willing to put in the necessary off-season work to improve.
