The Lady Roadrunners have started the season with a 4-3 record after falling at home to Winslow on Tuesday afternoon.
Holbrook opened the campaign with a solid 25-9 win over Joseph City last Wednesday, then went 3-2 at the eighth annual Krystin Diehl Softball Tournament held in Maricopa last weekend. Holbrook defeated Carl Hayden twice, the first time on Friday, 17-7, and the second on Saturday, 19-3. On Saturday the Roadrunners also picked up a win over Higley. Their two losses came on each day of the tourney. Friday’s loss was an 11-4 decision to La Joya Community and Saturday’s was 13-8 to Page.
Tuesday’s home game, a power point contest against Winslow, was a 10-3 setback.
“At the end on the first inning the score was 1-0 Winslow. At the end of the third, it was 5-2 Winslow, with runs scored by Alexandra Jeffers-Sample after a hit by Daviana Reyes and Mariah Cummings, who scored on a hit by the pitcher Isabella Jacquez. We just didn’t have a good day in the batters box,” said Coach Don Tyler.
The Roadrunners will play at Snowflake today (March 13), then host Round Valley on Monday, March 16. On Wednesday, March 18, they travel to Lakeside to meet Blue Ridge.
