The Lady Roadrunners were in action just once during fall break last week. That lone contest was in Lakeside where they fell to the fourth-ranked Yellowjackets in three straight games. Blue Ridge took the first game 25-9, the second 25-13, and finished Holbrook off in game three 25-17.
That loss dropped Holbrook to the 16th overall spot in the 3A rankings heading into this week’s action. If the team can hold onto that spot or climb higher, they will be hosting a play-in game for the 3A state tournament. If they fall to 17th or below, they will have to travel for that play-in contest.
Holbrook will host 15th ranked Winslow on Tuesday night in a critical battle in terms of possibly hosting a play-in game. The following night Holbrook will host 23rd ranked Payson. The Longhorns will be looking for an upset to remain inside the top 24 in the rankings to earn a spot in the play-in games.
Thursday night Holbrook will be in Snowflake taking on the top ranked Lobo machine. Snowflake has just one loss this year and has held on to the number one spot since the rankings came out. Holbrook’s final regular season game will be on Wednesday, Oct. 26, when they travel to face Payson for the second time in a week.
The Lady Roadrunners enter this week with a regular season mark of 7-6.
