Holbrook played three matches last week, all finishing with the same result. Hosting St. Johns on Tuesday night, the Lady Birds fell in three straight games: 12-25, 9-25 and 20-25.
Wednesday was a trip to face fourth-ranked Snowflake, which was a mismatch from the onset. The Lobos are very good, and they quickly showed their dominance over a struggling Holbrook team, holding the Roadrunners to single-digit points in three sets: 25-9, 25-7 and 25-9.
Holbrook welcomed seventh-ranked Monument Valley on Saturday afternoon and played much better, despite still dropping the match in three games. Holbrook forced several long volleys but fell 25-11, 25-13 and 25-17.
This week, Holbrook, now 0-10, will host Alchesay on Tuesday, then travel to Winslow on Wednesday. They will compete in the Joseph City Tournament this coming weekend with pool play matches vs Williams, Many Farms, Wilcox, and Rock Point on Friday. Saturday action will be determined by Friday’s pool play results.
