Holbrook’s volleyball team earned their trip to the 3A State Tournament with a win over Florence in the play-in game last Thursday. That win propelled the volleyball team to the state tournament for the first time in five years, which was also the last time the team posted a winning regular season record.
Holbrook’s trip to the state playoffs ended quickly at the hands of Tanque Verde. The fourth seeded Hawks entered the state tournament undefeated on the season and they proved worthy of that lofty ranking in defeating Holbrook in three games, 25-12, 25-16 and 25-14.
Tanque Verde lost in the second round to fifth seeded Odyssey Institute in four games.
Holbrook’s season ended with the loss but their regular season record of 10-7, combined with their return to the state tournament, showed how much the team has grown under Coach Aaron LaRose this year.
