The Lady Roadrunners went 3-2 at the Gracie Haught Tournament held in Payson over the weekend to earn fourth place in the large field.

Holbrook went 2 and 1 in pool play with wins over Show Low, 8-4, and Tempe Prep, 9-8. The Roadrunners’ loss came to Estrella Foothills, 9-3. That pool play record placed them into the bracket as the No. 3 seed, where they went 1-1. Holbrook lost to Sunnyslope, 12-0, but bounced back to defeat a Round Valley team which they had fallen to earlier in the week, defeating the Lady Elks 4-3 in their final game at the tournament on Saturday.

Holbrook headed into the tournament on the heels of back-to-back losses to Blue Ridge and Round Valley. The Lady Yellowjackets bounced the Roadrunners in Holbrook 17-2 in five innings. Holbrook also fell at home to Round Valley in a close contest, losing 5-4 on Monday.

The Roadrunners headed into this week’s spring break with an overall record of 5-8. They will host Payson on Tuesday, March 31, then welcome in Chinle on Saturday, April 4.
