By Greg Perkins Holbrook’s volleyball team has put themselves in a position where they will need to win at least one of their final two regular season matches this week in order to qualify for the 3A state play in game. Holbrook put themselves into this position by virtue of a 3-1 win over Winslow on Tuesday. The Bulldogs took the first game 25-17, but Holbrook battled back to win the next three games 25-21, 25-13 and 25-22. The win moved Holbrook up in the rankings to the number 24 spot. Thursday’s 3-0 loss to top ranked Snowflake also moved Holbrook up one more position to the number 23 position in the rankings. If Holbrook can remain ranked 24th or higher they will advance to the state play in matches early next week. For that to happen they will need to win one of their final two matches. After playing at Blue Ridge on Tuesday, they will travel to Show Low on Thursday. That final match could determine if Holbrook extends their season, or if they give way to the Winter Sports season at the High School. Holbrook enters the final week of the season with an overall record of 3-12.
