Snowflake’s Lady Lobos wrapped up the regular season on a two game winning streak pushing their overall season record to 13-14. Hosting Show Low on Jan. 31, they struggled on offense, but played well defensively in a 32-19 home court win on senior night.
On Feb. 2, the team traveled to Blue Ridge where they again came out on the right side of a 50-35 outcome. Those two wins moved them to 5-5 in region play leaving them tied with Payson for third place. The Longhorns, however, having beaten Snowflake twice, hold the tiebreaker meaning the Lobos entered the East Region Tournament as the fourth seed and hosted fifth seeded Show Low on Tuesday.
With a win over the Cougars they would move on to face the top seeded Lady Roadrunners in Holbrook on Thursday in the semi-final round. Regardless of what happens in Holbrook, Snowflake would play again on Friday either for a regional championship or for third and fourth place.
Snowflake entered the weekend ranked 20th in power points and will qualify for the state tournament, but they will be on the road somewhere when the first round begins on Feb. 13.
