By Greg Perkins The Lady Lobos posted shutout wins over Winslow and St. Johns last week before falling to Payson in their third game. Hosting Winslow on Tuesday, third ranked Snowflake got a huge effort from Breklee Tanner, who pitched a no hitter against the fourth ranked Bulldogs. Tanner and her defense faced 23 batters without giving up a hit and she had two strikeouts with no walks. Winslow’s Justine Butterfield also pitched well, but gave up eight hits to the Lady Lobos. Hallie McCray went 2 for 3 with a double and a home run; Kaylee Thomas, 2 for 3 with a double; and Tanner, Jessica Neff, Hallie Bauer and Shaelee Hensley, 1 for 3. On Wednesday Hallie Bauer nearly duplicated Tanner’s effort. She and her teammates allowed just three hits in a 10-0 five inning win over visiting St. Johns. Bauer had 10 strikeouts and walked just two. At the dish, the Lobos again had eight hits. Shanae Stratton went 2 for 3 with a double. McCray and Sydney Bauer also went 2 for 3. Hallie Bauer and Hensley each went 1 for 3 in the win. Snowflake came back down to earth a bit on Friday with a 5-2 loss to eighth ranked Payson. The Lobos enter the week holding down the No. 3 position in the rankings. After playing at Holbrook on Tuesday they will travel to Round Valley on today (April 19). On Friday they will host Show Low in their final regular season home game. Monday will be their regular season finale, a road game at Blue Ridge. The Lobos will have to wait and see when and where their state tournament games will begin.
