The Lady Lobos may have finished the season ranked in the 13th spot but through the first two rounds of the 3A State tournament they have been playing like a final four team.
The Lobos hosted No. 20 Gilbert Christian on Wednesday night and easily cruised past the visiting Knights, 49-19.
That win propelled them into a rematch on Friday night at No. 4 Florence. The Gophers received a first-round bye as the four seed, plus they had defeated Snowflake by four points back in December.
Facing a tough battle on the road, the Lobos showed their mettle by upsetting Florence 52-43 on their home floor.
With that win, the Lobos faced No. 5 Ganado on Monday in the quarterfinal round played in Prescott at Findlay Toyota Center.
Ganado easily advanced to Prescott with a 59-34 thumping of overmatched Yuma Catholic who entered the bracket as the 12th overall seed.
If the Lobos were able to upset the fifth ranked Hornets on Monday, they will face either No. 1 Sabino or No. 8 Chinle at 6 p.m. on Friday night at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum in the final four. Snowflake entered Monday’s game with an overall record of 22-7.
