By Greg Perkins The Lady Lobos met little resistance as they rolled to their 14th win of the season with three more victories last week. Hosting Payson on Tuesday, Snowflake rushed out to a big lead early, then had 11 girls make the scoring column in a 65-18 win over the Lady Longhorns. Trysten Hancock led the way in scoring with 14. Emily Davis added 12; Azure Green, 10; Marynda Caldwell, 6; Austin Stratton, 5; Kamri Ballard, 5; Hannah Nichols, 4; Macee Lesueur, 3; Kimberlee Eich, 2; Kadee Penrod, 2; and Brooklyn Greer also finished with 2. Playing in Winslow on Friday night, Snowflake opened up a 15-point margin after the first but led by only eight at the half. The third period expanded their lead by six, then in the fourth, they put the game away outsourcing the Bulldogs by 10 to win the contest 67-43. Hosting fourth ranked Thatcher on Saturday, Snowflake again played well through the first half building nearly a 20-point lead. In the second, Thatcher played them tougher but eventually, the Lobos pulled out the 55-49 win. Snowflake’s final regular season game will be in St. Johns on Tuesday. Regardless of the outcome of that contest Snowflake should enter the 3A state tournament as one of the top three overall seeds. They will host a first-round state tournament game on Tuesday, March 9, against a lower seeded opponent. With the first three rounds being held at the sites of the higher seeded teams this year, Snowflake is positioned well for a deep state tournament run and is one of the favorites, along with Page to play in the title game.
