The Snowflake Lady Lobos advanced to the second round of the 3A State Softball Tournament last Friday, but that was as far as the season would take them.
The seventh seeded Lobos defeated No. 10 Chinle in the opening round on April 29, which set up their meeting with No. 2 Yuma Catholic on Friday afternoon.
Yuma scored the game’s first run in the bottom of the second, then made it 4-0 with three more runs in the third frame. That lead grew to 5-0 in the fifth. Snowflake avoided the shutout with a single run in the sixth frame. The final score was 5-1 in favor of the Lady Shamrocks.
That loss put a wrap on the Lobos’ season. Snowflake compiled an overall record of 23-12.
Yuma Catholic moved on in the bracket and will face Empire in the championship game.
