Snowflake’s impressive regular season set them up as the second overall seed in the 3A State Volleyball Tournament played over the weekend. As the second seed, the Lady Lobos matched up with No. 15 Sabino in an opening round game played at Camelback High School on Friday afternoon.
The Lobos cruised with three straight wins, 25-16, 25-16 and 25-23. That win advanced them in the bracket where they met up with No. 7 AZ College Prep who had defeated No. 10 Monument Valley in their first round game. Snowflake again proved to be the dominant team advancing to the semi-final round in three games, 25-17, 25-17 and 25-17.
On Saturday morning the Lobos met up with sixth seeded Northwest Christian. The Crusaders went 15-2 in the regular season. They showed their toughness against the Lobos. Snowflake, who had cruised through their first two matches, had their season come to a close in the semi-final round losing to the lower seeded Crusaders in three games, 15-25, 14-25 and 20-25.
Northwest Christian went on to defeat top seeded Valley Christian in the championship match in three games as well.
Snowflake ended the season with an overall regular season record of 19-2 including the state tournament results. Coach Ramage and his team may have fallen short of their goal but they once again had an impressive season.
