By Greg Perkins Snowflake’s Lady Lobos picked up a pair of critical power point victories over the Blue Ridge Lady Yellowjackets and the Holbrook Lady Roadrunners last week. Those games marked the end of a four-game home stand to begin the New Year in which the Lobos went 2-2. Their schedule now has them on the road for three of the next four games, all against strong North section teams. Last Wednesday Snowflake avenged an earlier season loss to Blue Ridge with a 52-40 home court win. Both teams were sluggish in the first half, but Snowflake held a 19-16 edge going into the second half. The Lobo offense found its stride, netting 33 points to secure the 12-point win. Tori Flake led the team with 12 points. Melissa Eich added 10; Elle Flake, 7 with 11 boards; Nikita Olms, Emily Ballard and Madison Butler, 6 each; Audrey Livingston, 3; and Breklee Tanner, 2. On Friday night the Lobos picked up their first regular season victory over Holbrook in the past eight seasons. The Roadrunners led by one at the quarter only to see the Lobos build a five-point halftime lead. The Roadrunners trimmed the lead to two points heading into the fourth, then took a one-point lead inside the final minute only to see Snowflake come right back with a layup for the decisive points in a 56-54 victory. Elle Flake led the team in scoring with 14 points, followed by Livingston and Mickelle Stradling with 8 each; Ballard, Makayla Hall and Eich, 6 each; Tori Flake, 5; Olms, 2 each; and Butler, 1. Snowflake headed into this week’s action ranked 13th in power points with a 7-3 record. Overall the Lobos are 13-7. Their next four games will test both of those marks. They travel to Winslow tonight (Jan. 20), then will host powerful Page on Friday night, Jan. 22. On Saturday, Jan. 23, they go to Monument Valley and on Wednesday, Jan. 27, they will play at Tuba City.
