Snowflake earned a split in their two games played last week, with both games having close outcomes on back-to-back days at home.

Monday, the team welcomed Round Valley and both teams had outstanding performances from their respective starting pitchers. Snowflake’s Kashlynn Cantrell pitched a 2-hit shutout with seven innings of work. She had complete control, registering 7 strikeouts with no walks.

Round Valley’s pitcher Carla Arreola was nearly as good. Through seven innings she gave up just 2 runs on 8 hits with 2 strikeouts and walked 1.

Neither team scored through the first six innings. In the bottom of the seventh the Lobos finally pushed across the game winning runs on a 2-run home run by Kelsey Scarbrough, which broke the scoreless tie and ended the game. Scarbrough was 2 for 4 on the day with the home run and a double. Brittyn Butler was 2 for 3, and Kinslee Claridge went 1 for 3.

Tuesday, Snowflake remained home to host visiting Page. This game was like the previous days. Neither team scored through the first five innings in this game. Page finally took the lead with 2 runs in the top of the sixth. That lead stood until the bottom of the seventh where the Lobos tried a rally.

Scarbrough went 1 for 3 and scored the Lobos only run of the game in the seventh. That lone run wasn’t enough to avoid the loss, with the Sand Devils leaving Snowflake with a 2-1 win.

Adalyn Rodriguez went 1 for 1, and Kloe Burden and Cantrell both went 1 for 3.

Cantrell again did the work in the circle, pitching all seven innings giving up just the 2 runs on 4 hits with 15 strikeouts and 1 walk.

With the split the Lobos are now 6-7 overall, and 2-1 in conference play. This week they will host Holbrook on Tuesday, then travel to Payson on Thursday, then host Show Low on Friday.
