The Lady Lobos had a busy but unsuccessful week last week. They played four games but dropped three of the four, bringing their overall season mark to 7-10 heading into this week’s action.

Playing in Page on Monday, the Lobos led 5-3 after batting in the third, but Page overtook them with four runs in the bottom of the third. The Sand Devils added two more in the fourth, and four in the fifth to win the game 13-7.

Livi Schneider went 1 for 4, with a home run; Brynlee Bryant, 1 for 3 with a double; Carly Small, 1 for 4 with a double; Josie Lyman, 1 for 3; Mikelle Abbott, 1 for 4; LillieAnn Hollom, 1 for 4; Rylee Finch, 1 for 3; and Kloah Ulberg went 1 for 4.

Playing in Holbrook on Wednesday, the Lobos couldn’t maintain their momentum from Ulberg’s two-run home run in the second inning which tied the game. They did add three runs in the third and two more in the fourth, but Holbrook really put the game out of reach with a seven-run third inning. They had already scored seven through the first two frames. Holbrook closed the game out with two runs in the bottom of the fifth to win the game 17-7 under the 10-run mercy rule.

Ulberg was 2 for 2 with a home run and a double; Schneider, 1 for 3 with a triple; Abbott, 1 for 4 with a double. Lyman, 1 for 2; Hollom, 1 for 3 and Rylee Finch went 1 for 3.

Hosting Show Low the following day the Lobos prevailed 11-0 in cold conditions. Snowflake scored four in the second, added five in the third, and closed the game out with two in the fourth.

Jordyn Bryant worked four innings in the circle, allowing no runs on three hits with a walk and a strikeout. Kadee Penrod pitched one inning giving up just two walks.

As well as they played on Thursday, they couldn’t repeat that performance on Saturday against a good team from Round Valley. Playing in Springerville the Lobos came up on the wrong end of a 13-3 final outcome.

The game was knotted at 1-1 after two innings, but Round Valley scored four in the bottom of the third. The two teams matched each other with runs in the fourth, before Round Valley extended their lead with five additional runs in the fifth. The Elks closed out the game in the sixth with two more runs.

Snowflake had just one extra-base hit in the loss. Kenzie Penrod was 1 for 3 with a double; Hollom, 2 for 3; Schneider, 1 for 4; and Lyman went 1 for 2.
