By Greg Perkins The Lady Lobos dropped two close home games last week, falling to Chinle by four points then to Thatcher by one. Hosting second ranked Chinle on Friday, Snowflake played well in the first two periods and trailed by four at the half. In the third period the Lady Wildcats opened that margin up to 16 heading into the fourth. In the final minutes, the Lobos battled back to within a single point before finally succumbing 60-56. Tori Flake led the way with 15 points. Audrey Livingston added 9; Mickelle Stradling, 8; Melissa Eich and Elle Flake, 6 each; Nikita Olms, 5; Emily Ballard, 4; Breklee Tanner, 2; and Makayla Hall, 1. Saturday’s home court loss to Thatcher’s Lady Eagles was another close contest with the Lobos nearly pulling off a late comeback win. Snowflake led by three after one period, but trailed by two at the half against the much taller Eagle team. Thatcher extended the margin to five heading into the final period. In the fourth the Lobos netted 19 points, but came up one short in the 48-47 loss. Tori Flake again led the way with 12 points. Ballard added 8; Olms and Eich, 6 each; and Hall, Elle Flake, and Livingston, 5 each. With the two losses, the Lobos drop their overall season mark to 11-7. They entered this week ranked 25th in the power point rankings with a 5-3 record in those contests. They will host Blue Ridge tonight (Jan. 13), then welcome in Holbrook on Friday, Jan. 15. On Wednesday, Jan. 20, they travel to Winslow.
