Joseph City closed out the volleyball season with an overall non-tournament mark of 14-4, including the Lady Wildcats final loss of the season. Playing as the ninth seed in the Division V state tournament, the Wildcats faced eighth seeded Ray and fell to the Lady Bearcats 3-1 in the first round of the state tournament played last Friday afternoon in Prescott Valley.
Ray had beaten the Lady Wildcats earlier in the season, but Joseph City cruised in the first game 25-12 and appeared to be the better team early on. In the second game Ray turned the tables, winning it 25-7. Game three was a hard fought, 26-24 loss by the Wildcats. Ray took the fourth game 25-19, putting an end to Joseph City’s season.
No. 7 Arizona Lutheran knocked off top ranked Glendale Prep in straight games, 25-20, 25-15 and 27-25, to win the state title the following day.
