The Lady Wildcats improved their overall volleyball power point ranking to 11th and pushed their record to 6-2 with a short-handed win against Rock Point on Friday night.

Facing the Lady Cougars after a three-hour drive, the Lady Wildcats were missing starters Sierra Johnstun and Britney Smith at the outset, then had to make up for losing Tori Baird, who suffered an injury during the match. With Heidi Hunsaker playing middle in place of Johnstun and freshman Shannon Mosier replacing the injured Baird, the Lady Wildcats still won the match in three games, 25-10, 25-22 and 25-21.

Shannon Mosier finished with three kills in four attempts. Harlie Blosser added 13 kills out of 21 attempts, and Kristin Baldwin helped with six kills.

“This was our worst serving as a team, hitting only 78 percent, where we have been in the 90 percent range in past matches. This next week should give us four good days of practice as a team to prepare for Valley on Friday,” said Coach Darrel Mosier.

After playing in Sanders against the Lady Pirates on Friday, Oct. 7, the Lady Wildcats will have some more time off to prepare for their scheduled home match with Round Valley on Thursday, Oct. 13.
