The Winslow Lady Bulldogs are mostly underclassmen, according to Coach Jerron Jordan, with only three seniors on the 14-person varsity roster.

Assistant coaches for the Lady Bulldogs are Erick Petranovich, Elisha Aberle and Stacey Berg. The Bulldogs have a history of being a state championship contender and one of the best girls’ teams in the state. Jordan has continued the success started under the first Winslow High School girls’ coach, Don Petranovich.

Seniors on the team are Jayce Sangster, Adrianna Singer and Mikenzie Alcott. They are joined by juniors Lynnae Mitchell, Mickey Yellowhair, Jenabah Yazzie and Danielle James, sophomores Tatayana Waconda, Sirena Begay and Brandi Jodie, and freshmen Kelli Mitchell, Shilaine Gorman, Justine Butterfield and Siigrid Lil’bilNaghani.

According to the schedules, the Lady Bulldogs start play on Monday, Nov. 23, at Safford. The first game listed on the boys’ schedule is Tuesday, Dec. 1, at Flagstaff. The girls are also slated to play at Flagstaff on that date. There are a number of games listed where the girls play on the road and the boys at home, or vice versa. There are also games where they play different teams on different dates.

The Winslow girls are listed as playing in the North Tournament of Champions at Window Rock Nov. 25, 27 and 28. They are slated to play Chinle in the first tournament game.

The Lady Bulldogs are slated to compete in the Gallup Invitational Tournament Dec. 3-5. On Tuesday, Dec. 8, they play Estrella Foothills on the road at Goodyear while the Bulldog boys host Estrella Foothills. On Monday, Dec. 14, the Winslow girls host Coconino while the boys host Blue Ridge. Both teams play Mingus High School at Cottonwood on Wednesday, Dec. 16.

There is a possible discrepancy in the schedule that shows the Winslow Winter Classic Tournament on Dec. 18 and 19, but also shows the Winslow girls playing Poston Butte at San Tan on Dec. 18. The Winslow boys are shown to be hosting Poston Butte on Dec. 18, which would likely not be possible with the girls’ tournament here that day.

Both WHS teams will host Page teams on Jan. 2 to kick off 2016.
