The Bulldogs softball team swept all three games last week climbing to fifth in the rankings as of Saturday with a regular season mark of 9-4. After taking care of Snowflake at home on April 10 with a 11-1 win, they downed Page on Thursday 15-2, and won at Blue Ridge on Friday 17-7.
In the Page contest, the long bus ride had little affect on the Bulldogs who scored three runs in each of the first two innings then added another in the top of the third to lead 7-0 before Page got on the board scoring their only two runs in the home half of the third. Winslow put the game away with three runs in the fourth and a five run fifth finished it off under the 10-run rule.
Harleigh Scott led at the plate going 3 for 4, with a triple and a double. Brooke Williams was 2 for 3, with a double; Maycee Cunningham went 1 for 2, with a triple; Justine Butterfield was 1 for 3, with a double; Taylor Butterfield, 1 for 4, with a double; and Jordyn Johnson went 1 for 4.
Justine Butterfield got the job done in the circle working four innings allowing just two runs on only four hits with four strikeouts and walked one.
Playing at Blue Ridge on Friday the Bulldogs had to go six innings before ending the game under the 10-run rule with a 17-7 advantage. Winslow led 11-0 before Blue Ridge score three in the bottom of the fourth. They added two more in the fifth, but Winslow put the game out of reach for good with six runs in the sixth inning. Blue Ridge tried to avoid the mercy rule ending but came up one run short after scoring just two in the bottom of the sixth.
Justine Butterfield had herself a day at the plate going 3 for 4, with a pair of home runs and six RBI. Kaleb Clyde went 3 for 4 and also had a home run as well as a double. Morgan Thomas was 2 for 4, with a double; Williams went 2 for 4; Alyssa Barton, 1 for 2; Chloe Wilcox, 1 for 3; Harleigh Scott, 1 for 3; Maycee Cunningham, 1 for 3; Adrianna Yazzie, 1 for 4; and Johnson, 1 for 4.
Johnson earned the win in the circle with five innings of work. She gave up seven runs on five hits with 10 strikeouts and walked only two.
Winslow hosted Payson on Tuesday, then play at Holbrook on Friday and at Flagstaff on Saturday. They will close out the regular season on Monday hosting Show Low.
