The Winslow Lady Bulldogs edged the Flagstaff Lady Eagles 49-47 in Flagstaff on Tuesday, Nov. 26, in the season opener for both teams. The Winslow boys defeated Flagstaff, 76-57 in Winslow.
Winslow got off to a good start and led 18-7 after the first quarter, but the Lady Eagles came back and cut the margin to 26-23 at the half. Flagstaff continued to do well in the third quarter and had a 40-35 lead going into the final period. The Lady Bulldogs staged their come back and outscored the Lady Eagles 14-7 to take home the hard-won victory.
Winslow was led by sophomore Kylee Begay with 17 points. A. Vogele was also in double figures with 10 points and Andrea Willeto scored eight. No individual scoring was available for Flagstaff.
The Lady Bulldogs journeyed to Page on Tuesday, Dec. 3, to meet the Page Sand Devils, usually a formidable opponent.
