The Lady Bulldogs defeated the Shadow Mountain Lady Matadors 11-0 last Friday in Winslow. The win improved Winslow’s record to 16-8 and left Shadow Mountain’s at 3-11.
Freshman pitcher Justine Butterfield got the win, giving up just one hit and three walks in four innings of the game, which was shortened to five innings by the 10-run mercy rule. Sherreise Beaty worked the final inning and gave up a walk.
Alyssa Smith led the Bulldogs at the plate with a 2 for 2 performance with two doubles and three RBIs. Harleigh Scott and Sierra Wilcox were both 1 for 1. Gabby Gonzalez was 2 for 3 with a triple. Alicia O’Haco, Hailee Branson and Alyssa Barton were all 1 for 2, with Barton and Branson smacking triples. Beaty was 1 for 3.
The Bulldogs were to play the St. Mary’s Lady Knights last Saturday, but that game was canceled and will be rescheduled. They will host the Paradise Valley Lady Trojans today (April 15) and the Greenway Lady Demons on Saturday, April 16, before meeting the Mingus Lady Marauders on Tuesday, April 19, at Cottonwood.
