The Winslow High School softball team began the 2015 season in the Sun Blast Tournament held Feb. 26-28, where they won four games and lost one. Last week they won one game and lost another.
In the Sun Blast Tourney, the Lady Bulldogs lost to Camp Verde 5-3 and defeated Red Rock, 15-6, Benson, 8-7, Window Rock, 11-2, and Northwest Christian 3-1.
Last Tuesday, March 3, the Lady Lobos defeated the Bulldogs 6-4 in Snowflake and the following day, the Bulldogs blasted Tuba City 11-1 in Winslow.
The Bulldogs are coached by Kelli Fifelski.
The team roster includes seven seniors, Richelyn Villanueva, Taylor Holeva, Erica Jodie, Cheyanne Benally, Elizabeth Lozano, Monique Foy and Andrea Bollin; two juniors, Hailee Branson and Alyssa Smith; four sophomores, Gabrielle Gonzales, Alicia O’Haco, Sherreise Beaty and Tara Wilson; and three freshmen, Harliegh Scott, Nicolette Barton and Ariana Quinonez.
The Winslow girls were slated to play at Holbrook on Tuesday and will host Page on Thursday, March 12. They will play the Hopi Lady Bruins at Polacca on Tuesday, March 17, and have a rematch with Camp Verde on Wednesday, March 18, on the road.
