The Winslow Lady Bulldogs defeated the Chinle Lady Wildcats 66-54 in an opening round game of the 3A North Region Tournament played in Chinle Tuesday night. The win improved Winslow’s record to 16-11 for the season and to 5-6 in the region, and set up another meeting with regular season regional champion Window Rock at 6 o’clock tonight (Feb. 11). The Lady Scouts are undefeated in Arizona and 26-1 for the season.
Winslow led 21-16 after the first period and 32-28 at the half, but Chinle rallied and led 42-41 after three quarters of play. The Lady Bulldogs outscored Chinle 25-12 in the final period to secure the victory.
Felencia Keams led the Winslow attack with 20 points. Robina Villanueva with 14 points and Mattea Begaii with 10 were also in double figures for the Lady Bulldogs.
Karla Kee of Chinle was the game high scorer with 23 points. Tia Dalton was also in double figures for the Lady Wildcats with 12 points.
