Softball 2 Holbrook

The Lady Roadrunners’ softball season came to a close in the play-in round of the 3A state playoffs last Wednesday. Playing in Tucson against No. 12 Pusch Ridge, Holbrook came up short by a 9-3 final score.

The Lady Lions scored once in the bottom of the first, then made it a 4-0 game with three runs in the home half of the third inning. Holbrook tried to make a game of it with a single run in the fourth, but the home team answered quickly with another three runs in the fourth, making the score 7-1. Both teams scored twice in the sixth, and neither scored in the seventh, leaving Holbrook with the loss.

The Roadrunners scattered 10 hits in the game, but couldn’t string enough of those hits together to keep their season going.

Holbrook finished the season with a 5-13 record.
