Holbrook’s Lady Roadrunners find themselves in the midst of a six-game losing streak in power point contests dating back to March 11 when they defeated St. Johns for the second time this season.
Since that game they have fallen to Kingman Academy twice, the first meeting a 16-5 loss, and the second was a 6-4 loss that wasn’t decided until the final innings. They lost to Division II Winslow 14-0 on March 17.
Since returning from spring break they have dropped a pair of two-run games, the first to Wickenburg, 7-5, and the second to Kingman Academy. On Monday of this week they were shut out by a solid Show Low team, 11-0. Things didn’t get much better for the Roadrunners on Tuesday when they again fell at home, losing to Apache Junction by a final of 10-1.
The Holbrook squad entered Tuesday’s game ranked 45th in power points. With eight regular season games remaining on their schedule, the Roadrunners still have chances to climb into the top 32 in the rankings, which would get them into the state tournament, but they certainly need to break out of their current losing streak to reach that goal.
After playing at Blue Ridge on Thursday, they will be on the road again on Tuesday, April 12, with a trip to Window Rock. On Friday, April 15, they play at Snowflake.
