Holbrook’s Kobi Koerperich lit up the nets on Saturday afternoon in Valley Sanders, dropping 37 points on the Pirates in an 85-50 Holbrook win. The senior shooter had been in a bit of a slump but Saturday’s performance clearly proved what he is capable of.

Playing without Eric Baldonado, who was out with illness, the Roadrunners set the tone early with 55 first half points. Anthony Nelson netted 9 in the first and Koerperich added the other 12 in the quarter. In the second, freshman Quentin Thomas hit for 9 and Koerperich drained another dozen.

Playing with the large lead, Holbrook’s scoring slowed in the third, where Valley made a small comeback getting within 24 points. Holbrook put the game out of reach for good in the fourth holding the Pirates to just eight points.

Along with Koerperich’s 37-point effort, Nelson added 14; Thomas, 9; Cordell Begay, 9; Nick Begay, 9; Brandon Tapaha, 5; and Damien Clark helped with 4. Holbrook finished with five three-point field goals and went 18 for 27 at the free throw line.
