Holbrook’s boys’ team bounced back from Tuesday’s home loss to Winslow with a comfortable, 50-42 road win at Snowflake on Friday night. While they won the game, they may have suffered a critical injury with leading scorer Kobi Koerperich leaving the game late with an arm injury most likely putting him out for the remainder of the season. Koerperich scorched the nets for 26 points before leaving the game in the fourth period. He counted for five of Holbrook’s seven three-point field goals in the process.

Three of Koerperich’s long-range bombs came in the first period helping the Birds take a 10-point lead into the second. Snowflake stepped up their defense effort in the second holding Holbrook to just six, but the Roadrunners still had a seven-point lead at the break. Both teams netted 11 in the third and Holbrook padded their lead by one in the final frame before securing the road win.

The Roadrunners entered Friday’s game ranked 13th with a 9-6 regular season record. They are 14-11 overall. Holbrook will wrap up the regular season this week with two home games. After hosting Blue Ridge on Tuesday, they will welcome in Show Low on Friday. Both games will be tough assignments without Koerperich in the line up.
