Joanne (Jody) Sawyer, born April 23, 1948, went to be with the Lord on Oct. 27, 2018, in Overgaard, after a long battle of illness. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8, at the Overgaard Eagles Aerie. Joanne was born to Winford and Ollie (Frazier) Jordon in Gainesville, Ga. Jody was of the baptist faith. She grew up in Georgia and lived there most of her childhood and adult life. She then moved to Tennessee and finally to Arizona. Jody worked in banking as a loan officer. She was very creative and enjoyed decorating her home. She loved being outside and enjoyed taking care of her flowers. Joanne is survived by her husband, Stan Sawyer; daughter, Michelle (Jason) Walden; son, Shann (Lisa) Edgeworth; sister, Joy (Mike) McQueen; three beautiful grandchildren, Justin “Woody,” Emma and Conor, who knew her as Nana. She is preceded in death by her parents Winford “Speedy” Jordan and Ollie Waycaster; and brothers, Gerald Jordan and James Jordan. Silver Creek Mortuary of Taylor handled the arrangements.
