I was born and raised in Winslow graduating from WHS in 1979. I dedicated 15 years to teaching math classes and coaching before I became principal of WJHS. After retiring from WUSD No. 1, I worked for both the post office and BNSF. Early in those working years, I married my high school sweetheart, Lisa Cavin MacLean. We chose to reside and to raise our family here in our beloved hometown.
I have no “hidden agendas” and am running again because I still have an intense desire to keep the city’s positive momentum going.
Here are just a few of the things that have been accomplished in the last four years:
* Secured $101 million to re-certify the levee (let’s get rid of that flood insurance!).
* Secured $2.5 million to replace a failing water tank.
* About to open a brand-new city library (first new city building in over 40 years).
* Opened a new city hall.
* Secured grants to update and improve our city parks.
When people ask me, “Why would you want to do this now? You’re retired.” I simply say, “That is exactly why I would like to continue to help.” I now have the time to dedicate myself to serving our community. I want people to want to live here!
We need new jobs here! Not minimum wage jobs, but jobs with higher salaries and benefits. We have the resources necessary to be attractive to potential businesses. We can talk about affordable land, water, transportation, etc…but our greatest asset is the people of Winslow.
Please vote “Jim MacLean” for city council. Allow me the opportunity to keep the positive momentum going for you and for Winslow. And remember, “Make it a great day, or not, the choice is yours.”
Once a Bulldog always a Bulldog!
