The Lady Wildcats split the two volleyball matches they played last weekend, dropping a home court contest against Mogollon on Friday, then picking up a road win after a long trip to Fredonia on Saturday.

Friday’s home match with the rival Lady Mustangs saw Joseph City come out on top in a heated first game, winning it 25-23. The Cats really struggled in the second game, losing 25-10. Game three may have been the turning point. The teams pushed each other into overtime before the Mustangs eventually closed out the game, 31-29. That loss took the air out of the Wildcats, who dropped the fourth game 25-17 and the match 3-1.

The Wildcats bounced back to defeat Fredonia three games to two on Saturday afternoon. At press time those stats were not readily available.

This weekend Joseph City, now 3-3 on the season and ranked 26th in power points, will host a tournament today and Saturday (Oct. 2 and 3). On Tuesday, Oct. 6, the Cats will open a three-game regular season home stand when St. Johns makes a visit. On Thursday they welcome in Superior, then on Friday they will have a rematch with Mogollon.
