Adele Simpson, the youngest rider, won the Snowflake Ranch Rodeo Friday night barrel races with a score of 17.17 at the Taylor Rodeo Park on July 17. As the announcer said, “She’s a little bitty one, riding a really big one.”

The Rescue Ride included teams of four people with one person on horseback, who then had to race to the end of the arena, collect a ‘rescue’ team member, ride back to the starting point, drop off that rider and go for the next until all members of the team were ‘rescued’. As noted in this picture, the ‘rescued’ rider just had to hang onto the horse in the best way possible.

It was an intense moment as this cowboy worked to rope the wily calf before another team member ran up and grabbed the ribbon of the tail during the Ribbon Roping.

The Grocery Race provided some great entertainment as three riders mounted their various horses, some riding out with style, while others came off as quickly as they went on. The three team members had to ride the horse from one end of the arena to the other, picking up a watermelon, a cup of water and a raw egg, that were then transported back to the starting point with no breakage.

Tori Flake did a number of spectacular mounts and dismounts as she worked to win the Junior Ladies Keg Racing event at the Snowflake Ranch Rodeo on July 19.
