HPD and HVFD respond to one fire At approximately 12:59 p.m. on Wednesday, June 15, a fire occurred in a Larson Waste front loading garbage truck in the Motel 66 parking lot. Holbrook Police as well as the Holbrook Volunteer Fire Department (HVFD) were dispatched to the incident. According to the report, the driver was alerted to the fire when he saw flames in his trash compartment camera. He then immediately sought out an open clearing to create distance from anything which could have caused a secondary fire. He did not know how the fire started or where the components originated from. The fire was beginning to burn the sides of the truck, causing large black spots on the side. HVFD arrived on scene and attempted to put the fire out inside the truck but were unable. The garbage had to be unloaded in order to fully extinguish the fire. Brendon released the garbage onto the parking lot and HVFD extinguished the fire.
