The incorporation of the town of Holbrook was on March 6, 1917, making the community’s city government 100 years this month. The Navajo County Historical Society’s annual meeting will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 23, in the Rt. 66 Auditorium at the Historic Courthouse and will feature a brief presentation observing the town government’s anniversary. The evening will also include the annual business meeting that will include the election of six expiring seats on the board of directors for three-year terms. The seats are those held by Mary Bragg, Darlene Brinkerhoff, William Fee, Richard Peterson, D.V. Stuart and Leann Baker. They have indicated their interest in continuing their service to the society. Historical society members that are interested in a board position may obtain a letter of interest form at the museum’s visitors’ desk. Completed letters are to be returned to the society by Wednesday, March 22, to be on the March 23 ballot. The historical society serves as the caretakers of the museum’s objects and archives, maintaining your museum and visitors’ center that is one of Holbrook’s most important and valued assets. In 2016 alone, 20,593 visitors were served. The annual meeting is open to those interested in their community’s place in history and its preservation for future generations. Refreshments will be served. For additional information, contact Nicole Young, president, at (928) 242-4162 or stop by the museum office between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Monday through Friday.
