Coach John Bokker was very proud of the Holbrook wrestlers at the state meet held in Prescott last weekend. RJ Alvarado and Josh Hatch both claimed individual titles in their respective weight classes. James Self placed fourth and Drew Shumway earned a sixth place finish.
“I was proud of our guys. We took about half the guys we normally do with us to state, but they worked hard and earned us a top 10 finish,” said the coach.
“RJ and Josh had worked extremely hard in the off-season and their efforts paid off. They truly earned their state titles; going to camps, wrestling every other weekend and lifting. James and Drew also paid the price in the off-season. It goes to show that if you work hard you will succeed.
“We were young and inexperienced this year. We are expecting big things for next season,” said Coach Bokker.
Holbrook placed eighth as a team in the state meet.
