A Holbrook woman met a violent death last weekend, allegedly at the hands of her own son.

Holbrook Police Chief Mark Jackson reported that at approximately 4 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 22, Susan Clark, 68, was at her home on Lizard Lane when she was violently assaulted before escaping and making her way to a neighbor’s home, where police were called. When officers arrived they found the suspect, identified as Steven Clark, 34, of Holbrook, with his mother.

The victim was transported to Little Colorado Medical Center in Winslow, where she later died. An autopsy will be completed to determine the exact cause of death.

Steven Clark was charged with first-degree murder and two counts of aggravated assault, and was booked into Navajo County Jail.
