Next month will bring a celebration of life along the Mother Road with Holbrook’s Route 66 Festival, It Ain’t Your Mother’s Road.
The event will be held on Saturday, June 13, at Gillespie Park, located at the intersection of Navajo Blvd. and Hopi Drive, and will feature classic cars, a scavenger hunt, box car races, movies, live music, a Holbrook lap cruise, a burnout contest, games, cultural dances in the evening, terrific food and much more.
There will also be a Route 66 Volkswalk and breakfast hosted by Miss Navajo County Teen Emily Eavenson followed by a 5K, with proceeds to go toward battling hunger in Navajo County.
As part of the weekend celebration, Petrified Forest National Park will host the second annual Relics of Route 66 Tour from 8 a.m. to about 12 noon on Friday and Saturday. Transportation will be provided and a tour guide will offer information during the tour. Seating is limited, so reserve your place in advance.
